Gemma Joyce is a UK-based author who writes emotionally resonant fiction about strong women and the extraordinary life journeys of ordinary people.
Gemma has been writing since she could hold a pen, but it's taken a few years for her to complete her first novel amidst life events and plenty of her own personal plot twists. Gemma's debut novel was selected for the second round of The Bridport Prize, placing in the top 5% of entrants in 2025.
Proudly queer and unapologetically neurodivergent, Gemma is currently working on her next novel.

The Words We Don't Say
A lightly speculative upmarket women's fiction novel centered around a forty-nine-year-old postwoman in the UK who lives her life based on safe routines, only to be thrown a curveball when letters are handed to her to deliver from the past several decades. Unsure where they came from or why they were never delivered, she sets out to return them to their intended recipients, unknowingly unearthing her own past traumas and coming to terms with her own need for healing in the process. This story contains dark themes, hope for second chances, and a sapphic romance subplot. A blend of REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES, THE WEDDING PEOPLE, and THE HUSBANDS.
